Family Therapy & Parent Support in Greater Denver
Helping families and caregivers communicate, connect, and thrive.
BEYOND THE INDIVIDUAL
A Whole-System Approach to Family Harmony
When a child is struggling to find their rhythm, it rarely happens in a vacuum. Often, the "big feelings" or "difficult behaviors” you are noticing are signals that the entire family system is under pressure. Whether it’s a breakdown in communication, a shift in family dynamics, or the exhaustion of parenting a higher needs child with a more sensative nervous system, sometimes traditional therapy models falls short.
In my practice, I believe the most profound growth happens when we support the whole family system. This might mean working shoulder-to-shoulder with you and your kiddo to bridge a gap in connection and build understanding, or it might mean a dedicated 1:1 space for you as a parent or caregiver to discuss hopes for your family.and process your own feelings of burnout, frustrations, guilt, or confusion.

You May Be Wondering…
-
Not necessarily. We'll figure out the right configuration together based on your family's needs and circumstances. Sometimes one parent attends, sometimes both, and sometimes sessions rotate depending on what's most helpful in the moment. What matters most is that the people who are most involved in your child's day-to-day life have a seat at the table.
-
Individual therapy gives your child a private, dedicated space that's entirely their own. Family therapy (or parent sessions) focuses on the broader system around them: communication patterns, dynamics at home, and how everyone can work together to support their growth. The two often go hand in hand.
-
Absolutely. Parent sessions don't have to go deep into your own processing if that's not what you're looking for. We can focus on practical skill-building: how to respond to big emotions, set consistent limits, repair after conflict, and communicate in ways that your child can actually hear. Think of it as coaching with a clinical lens.
-
Yes. Co-parenting situations are common, and the work can be structured in a way that works for your family, including separate parent sessions when needed. The goal is always the wellbeing of your child, and that doesn't require a perfectly united front to get started.
How We Can Work Together
Some of the most meaningful progress happens not just in your child's individual sessions, but in the work we do with you and your family alongside them.
Family Therapy
When a child is in individual therapy, the most sustainable progress often happens when the entire "ecosystem" of the home is also supported. Family sessions provide a collaborative space to bridge the gap between your child's individual growth and your daily life at home.
-
I view family therapy as a "wraparound" service. While I may work with your child 1:1, we will periodically bring in parents, caregivers, or siblings to ensure everyone is speaking the same language. We focus on shifting family dynamics from reactive to relational, ensuring the tools learned in session actually work in the heat of a Tuesday evening at home.
-
A No-Blame Zone: We move away from seeing the child as the "problem" and instead look at how the whole family can support one another.
Sibling Support: Helping brothers and sisters understand their sibling’s needs while ensuring their own voices are heard.
Shared Language: Developing specific cues and communication styles that work for your child’s unique brain and emotional needs.
Collaborative Goal Setting: Identifying the specific "pain points" in your family’s routine (like bedtime, bathtime, mealtime, getting ready for school, or other transitions) and implementing practical, personalized, real-world supports and solutions.
Parent Coaching & Support
Parenting a child with complex behavior and emotional needs, or a neurodivergent profile, is a journey filled with profound joy and unique, often invisible, challenges. I provide a dedicated space for you to set down the "advocate" hat for a moment and focus on your own well-being and growth.
-
Our work together is a blend of practical psychoeducation and deep, personal processing. Sometimes we will focus on "cracking the code" of your child’s behavior through a neuro-affirming lens; other times, the focus is entirely on you—processing the grief, the burnout, or the triumphs that come with modern parenthood.
-
Validation for the "Hard" Days: A safe place to express the exhaustion and complexity of parenting without judgment.
Neuro-Affirming Education: Helping you understand your child’s brain and nervous system so you can move from frustration to connection.
Parental Self-Care & Regulation: Learning how to manage your own triggers and nervous system so you can remain the "calm center" for your family.
Individualized Support: Whether you are seeking 1:1 therapy to process your own history or simply need a consultant to help navigate school and home support, this time is tailored to your needs.
